The Arab Council for Childhood and Development (ACCD) and the Arab Network for Early Childhood (ANECD) organized a Workshop on the working conditions of educators in Nurseries and Kindergarten Sector in Egypt on March 10, 2024. This Workshop focused on discussing the working conditions of educators and nannies in the Nurseries and Kindergartens Sector in Egypt, as part of preparation for an Arab Study aimed at improving the work environment in nurseries and kindergartens, across legal frameworks, capacity-building, and curriculum development to accommodate all categories of children, including those with special needs.

The Arab Study, conducted by ANECD in seven Arab countries (Jordan, Tunisia, Oman, Palestine, Lebanon, Morocco, and Egypt), involved administering questionnaires to 8,717 workers in nurseries and kindergartens across these nations. The Study concluded that despite tangible development in areas such as enrollment, quality, and infrastructure, significant challenges persist. These challenges necessitate effective procedures and mechanisms to improve the work environment within the Nurseries and Kindergarten Sector as part of a comprehensive development vision.

ACCD is a founding member of ANECD. A Joint Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between ACCD and ANECD in May 2023 to enhance joint work in early childhood, keep pace with developments, and leverage the latest scientific findings for child development and care during this critical stage.
