The 20th Session of ACCD’s Board of Trustees

Under the Presidency of HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, a Joint Meeting of ACCD’s Board of Trustees and ANNGO’s Board of Directors Approves Action Plan Focused on Digital Transformation, Combating Climate Change, and Sustainable Development

On Sunday, May 19, 2024, a joint meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Arab Council for Childhood and Development (ACCD) (20th Session) and the Board of Directors of the Arab Network for NGOs (ANNGO) (2nd Session) was held in Cairo. The meeting was presided over by HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the President of ACCD and the Arab Gulf Programme for Development (AGFUND).

His Highness expressed his satisfaction with the significant achievements of both ACCD and ANNGO in 2023. He highlighted their proactive engagement with emerging issues such as digital transformation and climate change, emphasizing the continued importance of child participation in these efforts, recognizing children as a generation more adept with the digital world.

The approved ACCD Action Plan for 2024, which represents the second year of its 2023-2025 Strategic Plan under the slogan "The Empowerment of the Arab Child in the Era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and Beyond", outlines eight key programs. These programs fall within implementation of ACCD’s Upbringing Model ‘Education for Hope’. Concurrently, ANNGO’s 2024 Action Plan focuses on sustainable development and climate change.

Additionally, AGFUND signed four Support Agreements with ACCD and ANNGO. These agreements aim to: (i) support the institutional building of both ACCD and ANNGO; (ii) fund a Project on Media Observatory for the Arab Child Rights; and (iii) organize the Third Edition of the Arab Climate Forum, which will focus on civil society's role in addressing the socio-economic impacts of desertification in the Arab region.

The meeting reinforced the collaborative efforts in child development and civil society across the Arab world, underscoring a commitment to a sustainable and digitally empowered future for Arab children.
