ACCD Announces Winning Researches of the Third Cycle of King Abdulaziz Prize for Scientific Researches
Four Winning Researches Prepared by Eight Arab Researchers 
Under the patronage of HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, President of the Arab Council for Childhood and Development (ACCD), ACCD today, Wednesday, May 29, 2024, announced the winning researches of the Third Cycle of "King Abdulaziz Prize for Scientific Researches on Childhood and Development". This Cycle was specifically dedicated to the topic of "Education in the Post-COVID-19 World".
Prof. Hassan Al-Bilawi, Secretary General of ACCD, stated that the selection of "Education in the Post-COVID-19 World" as the theme for this Cycle was prompted by the pandemic's profound impact on millions globally. Children, being among the most vulnerable, were disproportionately affected, leading to the greatest disruption in educational processes throughout history. He emphasized the necessity of addressing these repercussions through research and study to prevent lasting damage to our future.
Professor Al-Bilawi noted that the First Prize was withheld in this Cycle. The following Prizes were distributed among eight Arab researchers:
- Second Prize (US$ 4,000): Awarded for a joint research paper titled "The Effectiveness of a Counseling Program Based on Incentive Platforms in Developing Self-Regulated Learning Skills and Virtual Well-being among High School Students with Cognitive Perception Anxiety During Educational Emergencies". The research paper is prepared by Professor Waleed Salem Mohamed Alhalafawy, Professor of Education Technologies at the Faculty of Graduate Studies, King Abdulaziz University, and Professor Marwa Zaki Tawfik Zaki, Professor of Education Technologies at the Faculty of Education, University of Jeddah.
- Third Prize (US$ 3,000): Awarded for a joint research paper titled "From Access to Reach: Towards an Empowering Policy Ensuring Equity and Equality in Education for Children Post-COVID-19". The research paper is prepared by Professor Sohier Safwat Abdelgaid, Professor of Social Theory at the Faculty of Education, Ain Shams University, and Professor Sahar Hassani Barbari, Professor of Family and Gender Sociology at the Faculty of Arts, Suez Canal University.
- Two Encouragement Prizes (US$ 1,000 each): Awarded for the following:
- A joint research paper titled "Global Trends and Models in Developing the Digital Infrastructure for Primary Schools and its Impact on Post-COVID Crisis Management". The research paper is prepared by Dr. Khalil Ismail Ibrahim Madi, Associate Professor at the College of Graduate Studies, University of Palestine, and Ms. Ayah Khalil Diab Abu Nada, Lecturer at the Collage of Education, University of Palestine.
- A joint research paper titled "A Gamification-Based Virtual Environment for Developing Some Academic Skills of Kindergarten Children: A Model for Post-COVID Education". The research paper is prepared by Professor Enas Said El-Shitahy, Professor of Child Education at the Faculty of Early Childhood Education, Menoufia University, and Dr. Basant Abdel Mohsen El-Aqabawy, Assistant Professor of Media and Child Culture at the Faculty of Early Childhood Education, Menoufia University.
It is noteworthy that this Cycle received 57 research papers from 72 researchers representing 12 Arab countries. The papers were judged by 7 experts from 4 Arab countries. The regulations and procedures for this Cycle were established and overseen by a Scientific Committee comprising 11 experts specializing in the Prize's subject areas from 4 Arab countries.
The Prize was founded by the late HRH Prince Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Founder of ACCD, with the support of ACCD’s strategic partner, the Arab Gulf Programme for Development (AGFUND). The Prize aims to deepen the culture of child rights by enriching scientific research in childhood issues to serve the development of Arab societies and address challenges, support and motivate researchers concerned with childhood issues in Arab countries, and maximize community dialogue on issues important to children and their upbringing through the submitted research.
An Awards Ceremony will be held in the near future under the patronage of HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, President of the ACCD, to present the prizes to the winners and announce the theme for the Fourth Cycle of the Prize.
